We got good news and bad news. Let’s rip off the bandage first.
Due to the instability and uncertainty regarding tariffs, we at Bézier Games have decided to delay the launch of our Maglev Metro Kickstarter campaign. Maglev Metro Maps: Volume 2 was scheduled to launch on April 22nd; however, we feel that it is in everyone’s best interests to delay our launch date.
We are deeply saddened by this as we have spent years developing these six new expansion maps for our premium train game, Maglev Metro, and we could not wait to share all the new content. Here's a quick tease.
When we do launch, Age of Steam fans will notice that two of these new maps have taken inspiration from previous maps designed by Ted Alspach. The new Maglev Metro map Ghost Train is based on the 2-player AoS map St. Lucia where passengers start scattered across the board; however, Ghost Train is playable up to 4 players and includes a “summoning ghost” mechanic.
The new Barcelona expansion map is based on the highly regarded AoS Disco Inferno map where instead of “burn, baby, burn” for cities that have been emptied of cubes, the extra stations in Barcelona (many of which were created for the 1992 Summer Olympics) are being closed down once no more passengers are present, making the line more efficient.
However, sometimes things beyond any one publisher’s control can happen (and often do). Bézier Games is not a large team. We are a small team of 8 full-time gamers. We run a tight ship and meticulously weigh our decisions and all potential outcomes. What kind of gamers would we be otherwise?
Simply put: We feel that the current economic climate is too unstable for us to move forward at this time. We do not feel comfortable with passing this much risk on to our backers.
We are privileged with having the responsibility to make games and help gamers the world over create everlasting experiences and fond memories with friends and family. We love our job. We want to continue making modern classic games. We know that all of this is possible because of our fans and the ever amazing gaming community. You’ve taken such good care of us over the years; we want to do right by you.
Maglev Maps Volume 2 will launch on Kickstarter, but at a later date. Our shiny new futuristic maglev trains are coming; we’ll just have to wait a moment before they arrive.
For all of you who are curious about Maglev Metro, we recommend you try the Maglev Metro app, which is currently available on both iOS and Android! Enjoy the future of train games from the convenience of your smart device. Both Maglev Metro and Maglev Maps: Volume 1 are also available on Amazon, so you can get up to speed on maglev technology.
In addition, all of Bézier Games' 2025 releases have already arrived in the US and their MSRP will not be affected by the tariffs. In fact, you can already pre-order most of them now on our online shop. You can even pre-order through our Wolfpack program and save 10%, get promos, and save on shipping.
In this challenging time, we encourage all of you to reach out to your favorite board game publishers and let them and the world know on social media what their games mean to you and share an epic gaming moment you’ll never forget. Seriously. Do this now.
We are all gamers. We don’t win every game, but we keep gaming for the love, the passion, and the challenge.
Keep gaming, Everyone.
